Technology: Mr. Ronald Rideout
Welcome
Ron Rideout, Technology Coordinator for Christ the King School, is at the school on a consultant basis three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. He is also “on call” if problems arise on Monday or Friday. In addition to maintaining the computer systems, he works closely with the teachers and students on integrating technology into the curriculum. In addition to integrating technology into the curriculum, computer skills are taught based on the rubrics developed by the International Society for Technology Education (ISTE).
The computer lab has 25 PC workstations for the students to use. The computers are networked and have Internet access. The lab is also equipped with an interactive whiteboard and digital projector.
In addition, the lab has 2 laser printers: a small B&W printer and a color printer. We also have access to digital cameras and scanners as a source of images and information.
There is a second computer lab located in the middle school. This lab has 16 computers which are also part of the school network and have access to the Internet. Students using this lab can print to the printers in the lab in the elementary school or to a local B&W laser printer. Each middle school classroom also has multiple computers connected to the school network.
Each elementary classroom has multiple computers which are networked and have high-speed Internet access.
The two buildings – elementary school and middle school – have been connected with fiber optic cable to provide faster and more reliable connectivity between the two buildings and their access to the Internet.
